AAEVT: American Association of Equine Veterinary Technicians
The American Association of Equine Veterinary Technicians (AAEVT) is a society formed of vet techs who have a shared interest in the discipline of horse health care and animal behavior.
AAEVT’s mission statement is: “to promote the health and welfare of the horse through the education and professional enrichment of the equine veterinary technician and assistant.
This organization is closely related to the American Association of Equine Practitioners (AAEP). The fee for membership is $60.
They meet several times a year, and the dates are usually posted on their website. The website is very informative, and it even has a career center.
There is an Equine Veterinary Assistant and Technician Certification Program that you can apply for. It consists of online learning and on hands training as well.
The following study areas are covered: Equine Veterinary Medical Terminology, Equine Pharmacology, Equine Anatomy and Physiology, Equine Essentials: Basic Horse Care, Equine Laboratory Diagnostics, Equine Surgical Assistance and Anesthesia, Equine Diagnostic Imaging and Emergency Medicine, Large Animal Parisitology, Equine Office Procedures.
