Eating Lunch At the Vet Clinic Again?

Are you to busy changing IV lines to go out for lunch?  Did you decide to just eat that frozen dinner that has been in the clinic freezer for the last week?  Here are some interesting facts about vet clinic break room.

Did you know that there are no regulatory guidelines or laws that require veterinary practices to have a break room?

Also did you know that businesses are not legally required to allow employees to consume food or beverages in the workplace!

When I was a relief vet, I saw many different sizes of break rooms.  Some were just used as storage, others so dirty you would not want to walk inside, and some vet clinics, some newer ones, were so focused on maximizing every inch, eliminated the breakroom.

If you eat lunch in patient treatment areas you are actually breaking OSHA regulations and local health departments rules for sanitation, although I see some people do this all the time.

There are lots of ways to contaminate your lunch in the vet clinic!

Vet techs work hard, so give us a clean place to eat, and a freezer that works.
