Being a vet tech offers a wide range of career options once you graduate. If you think being a vet tech is just about working in your local vet clinic, think again. Being a vet tech and be a very dynamic career if you want it to be. Here are some great career options you have as a vet tech.
1. Pharmaceutical Rep. Vet techs are often hired as sales representatives for companies who sell pet related products. This is good if you can land a job with a major pharmaceutical company because it can mean great benefits.
2. Veterinary Schools. Being a vet tech in a state veterinary school can be a challenging job but it can be very rewarding. Not only do you help to teach vet students, but you also get to see challenging cases.
3. Specialty Practices. If you like helping out with surgeries, you could try getting a position with a vet who is boarded in small animal surgery. Or if you like emergencies, get a job at the emergency clinic.
4. Government. There are actually several jobs you could get with the government. From helping with research to doing regulatory work.
5. Zoos and Aquariums. Vet techs are often hired at zoos and other exhibits to help care for animals and provide treatments.
6. Vet Tech Instructor. If you liked being in vet tech school why not try and become an instructor and try to teach future technicians?
