Wanted: Someone who is hard working and self motivated. We need someone to start immediately who granduated from vet tech school with flying colors. The pay is not great and the hours are long. You will rarely get off of work at the scheduled time, but that is okay with you.
A vet tech has numerous duties, some of these duties include:
- Physical examinations
- Whelping
- Euthanasia assistance
- Vaccinations
- Prepping surgeries
- Monitoring anesthesia
- Discharging patients
- Answering phone call from clients about medication side effects
- Doing dental cleanings
- Overseeing vet assistants and kennel staff
- Obtaining patient histories
- Collecting vital signs like heart rate, respiration rate, and temperature
- Performing fecal exams and blood smears
- Collecting blood and urine specimens
- Keeping track of controlled drugs
- Taking x-rays
- Maintaining inventory
All these skills you are expected to be profient at. Often times an experienced vet tech is even better at collecting blood than the veterinarian because we do it so often.
