New Blog About Veterinary Technician Schools
Welcome to my new blog about veterinary technician schools. I have been involved in some aspect of veterinary medicine for almost a decade and have worked for several difference practices in different states. Many people find being a veterinary technician interesting so they often ask me how I became one.
Once you have clearly accepted the fact that you want to become a veterinary assistant then you must find a good school to go to. In many states you don’t have much of a choice when it comes to veterinary technician schools as there are not many.
However in some states, like California you have lots of choices about what school you want to go to. Most people simply pick the school closest to where they live because of convenience which is a big factor. Most of us work full-time jobs and take classes at nights and on the weekends, trying to cram everything in.
Veterinary Technician schools are becoming more and more competitive these days as admission standards rise. It can be very difficult to get into a program, something most people don’t realize until they apply. You often need good grades and might even have to take some math courses at a local community college to help you with admission.
Also you’ll need three goo reference letters. Once of these letters should come from a veterinarian you have worked for. If you have not worked in a vet practice try to at least find a part-time job to get some job experience so you can get a good reference from a veterinarian to help you be more competitive on your application.
Tuition for veterinary technician schools also varies a lot by location. Obviously bigger cities will charge more than schools in more rural communities, but the tuition is often on par with what you can expect to make for a salary after graduation.
Thanks for stopping by and reading my first blog post! Please stop back as I will add more posts about veterinary technician schools.
