Should I Go to Veterinary Technician School Full-time or Part-time?
For some people who are currently thinking about going back veterinary technician school only going part-time might seem like a logical move. But here are some reasons why it might not be such a smart move.
Obviously one of the main benefits of going to veterinary technician school part time is that you can sometimes hold down a full-time job as well. The main benefit of this would be that you still have a steady source of income coming in.
But for the most part this is discouraged because it is really hard to keep up with classes and still try to work 40 hours a week. Also if you go to a vet tech school part time the means it’ll take you twice as long and almost 4 years to get through the program.
When it takes you this long to get through the program you might forget things that you learned in the first year while doing your last year examinations four years later.
Most vet tech schools do not allow part-time students although some will allow them under certain circumstances.
Remember most programs take two full years to complete. While two years might seem like a long time they will go quickly because you’ll be busy studying and doing other things.
If you cannot go full time to school right now you might even consider asking to start the following year so you have time to save up more money and make other plans.
But remember if you’re waiting for the perfect time to go to school there isn’t one. You just have to make up your mind and do it.
