Tips For Finding Veterinary Technician Jobs

Finding veterinary technician jobs can be difficult sometimes depending on the economy and where you live.  However most of the time jobs are easy to find because most veterinary clinics are desperate for well trained staff.

If you have worked in a vet clinic at all you know how hard it is to find someone who has the skills that a good veterinary technician has.  Use this to increase your self esteem and have the confidence to not only find a job but find a great job where you are valued.

It is easy after graduating from veterinary technician school to take the first job to come along, and often times we do because it means money coming in.  But often times that first job will not meet your satisfaction.

In fact the average vet tech will change jobs at least 5 times during their career!  That is an amazing but true number in my experience.  Turn over at most vet clinics can be quite high due to low pay and lack of organization.

I beleive the majority of vet techs after graduation end up working for the same vet clinics we worked at before vet tech school, only with a little higher salary if at all.

The best places for finding good veterinary technician jobs are at universities or teaching hospitals.  Since those are state jobs they come with great benefits and paid vacations, something other vet tech jobs lack.

Looking in the newspaper is another way to find good tech jobs.  Also the tech school should have a job board as well.  Always be searching for a better job and keep your resume updated.

Also always keep an eye out for new clinics opening in your area where you can be the head veterinary technician.  By constantly looking for advancement you can raise your salary quickly.

Most of us however get caught in the trap of being to lazy to look, and become contented with our low paying job.  I urge you to keep your resume always updated and go to continuing education classes.

By constantly  looking for veterinary technician jobs you can find the best ones first.
