Vet Tech Summer Internship
Finding a vet tech summer internship can be difficult if there are lots of other students looking in the same areas that you are. I believe most programs require over 50 hours of an internship for the summer, finding a way to get in your required hours sometimes makes you get creative.
First you should contact all the vet clinics that you know of in surrounding areas and ask. Most people are afraid to ask, but most vet clinics are looking for someone with your skills so don’t be shy.
If some clinics say no, call them back in about one month because they might be facing a different situation.
Persistence and a good attitude are vital to finding a good vet tech summer internship.
If you are having trouble getting people to commit to taking you full time, then see if you can get two part-time positions at different vet clinics to fulfill your requirements.
Another place to look at is zoos. Sometimes you can find work at a zoo if it fits in with your internship requirements.
Don’t give up and keep looking. It may seem difficult, especially in today’s economy, but people will always need care for their pets.
